A Saturday Visit to Taiwan's Presidential Office Building
週六，帶媽媽一起走進總統府

上個星期六，我和媽媽一起去參觀了台北的總統府。

Last Saturday, I visited Taiwan's Presidential Office Building with my mom.

中午十二點，我們先和朋友約在東一排骨集合，一起吃午餐。吃完飯後，距離預約參觀總統府的時間還有一點空檔，我就帶媽媽去附近喝杯咖啡，坐著休息一下，也慢慢等時間接近，再一起走去總統府。

We met our friends at Dong Yi Pork Ribs at noon and had lunch together. After lunch, we still had some time before our scheduled visit, so I took my mom for a coffee nearby. We relaxed for a while and then slowly walked toward the Presidential Office Building when it was almost time.

Getting Inside Was Easier Than I Expected

因為朋友事先預約了團體參觀，所以抵達之後，雖然入口處已經有不少人在排隊，我們的入場速度卻比想像中快很多。

通過安檢、正式走進總統府的那一刻，我有一種很有趣的感覺。這棟建築平常經過台北市中心時並不陌生，遠遠就能看到非常醒目的中央塔樓。但真正走進去，從外面看一棟「重要的政府建築」，突然變成可以慢慢觀察牆面、窗戶、走廊和庭院的空間，感覺完全不同。

Because our friend had made a group reservation in advance, we were able to enter quite quickly even though there were many visitors waiting outside. I've seen the Presidential Office Building many times from the streets of Taipei, but walking inside was a completely different experience.

我最喜歡的，其實是這棟建築
What I Loved Most Was the Architecture

這次參觀，最吸引我的不是某一個展覽，而是總統府這棟建築本身。

現在的總統府前身是日治時期的臺灣總督府，1912 年動工，1919 年全部完工，今天看到的主體建築已經有超過一百年的歷史。1945 年臺北大空襲時，建築曾受到嚴重破壞，後來經過修復繼續使用，並在 1998 年被指定為國定古蹟。

它的建築風格屬於後期文藝復興式，也受到英國建築師 Norman Shaw 的影響。仔細看外觀，可以看到柱列、山牆、圓拱窗、牛眼窗、羅馬柱式與複柱等古典建築元素；紅色面磚配上灰白色裝飾，形成非常有辨識度的紅白相間外觀。

What impressed me most during this visit was the building itself. Its late-Renaissance architectural style, classical arches, columns, red brick, and pale decorative bands give it a very distinctive appearance.

以前從外面經過，我一直知道總統府中央那座塔很醒目，但這次查資料才知道，它大約有 60 公尺高，相當於 11 層樓，而且在日治時期曾經是全臺灣最高的建築物。

原來最初的設計只有六層，後來才把中央塔樓大幅提高。從正面看，中央塔樓與兩側建築形成接近金字塔的比例，所以整棟建築即使非常龐大，視覺上還是有一種很穩定、很莊嚴的感覺。

我也很喜歡裡面的拱廊。不同樓層的拱形設計並不完全一樣，再搭配柱子與紅白相間的牆面，陽光照進來的時候特別漂亮。

The central tower is about 60 meters high, roughly equivalent to an 11-story building. I especially liked the arched corridors. With sunlight coming through, the red brick, pale walls, arches, and shadows looked especially beautiful.

The Trees Were Another Surprise

除了建築之外，那天讓我印象很深的，還有總統府裡的大樹。

可能因為那天天氣真的太好了，陽光從樹葉之間灑下來，再加上紅白色的歷史建築當背景，隨手拍都很好看。

那種感覺跟我原本想像中的總統府不太一樣。原本會覺得這裡應該是一個比較正式、嚴肅的地方，可是走進庭院之後，有老建築、有大樹、有陽光，也有人走著、拍照，整個空間反而多了一種很舒服的生活感。

The weather was perfect that afternoon. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, with the historic red-and-white building in the background. Almost every photo we took looked beautiful.

走到中間庭院時，我才真正感覺到這棟建築的規模。總統府的主體由長型建築量體與中軸線構成，形成兩個內庭院，也就是很有特色的「日」字型平面。

我們去的那一天，其中一個庭院剛好正在舉辦兒童閱讀相關的活動。一百多年的歷史建築、中庭、大樹，再加上參加活動的小朋友，這個畫面讓我覺得很有意思。歷史建築並不是只能隔著繩子遠遠觀看，它現在仍然是一個有人使用、有人走進來的空間。

During our visit, there was a children's reading activity taking place in one of the courtyards. I loved seeing a historic building still being used as a living, active space.

最後，我們決定自己慢慢逛
We Eventually Explored on Our Own

原本我們是跟著團體導覽一起參觀，不過那天參觀的人真的很多，走著走著，我們就和導覽隊伍分開了。

既然都分開了，後來乾脆就不趕著追隊伍，自己慢慢逛。反而因為這樣，我可以停下來看自己有興趣的地方，也拍了很多照片。

其中當然也不能錯過大家很熟悉的發言人講台。我還特別帶媽媽過去拍照。平常是在新聞畫面裡看到的場景，突然換成媽媽站在那裡，真的有一種很可愛的反差感。這張照片也變成我那天很喜歡的紀念之一。

There were so many visitors that we eventually became separated from our guided group. Instead of rushing to catch up, we decided to explore at our own pace. Of course, I also took my mom to the spokesperson's podium for a photo.

有時候，旅行不用走很遠
Sometimes You Don't Have to Travel Far

這一天沒有很複雜的行程。

中午和朋友吃飯、帶媽媽喝杯咖啡、一起散步去總統府，看看一棟在台北生活這麼多年、經過很多次，卻從來沒有真正仔細看過的建築。

結果反而拍了很多很喜歡的照片，也重新認識了一個原本以為自己很熟悉的地方。

有時候我們總覺得「旅行」一定要去很遠的地方，但其實只要換一個角度，走進一棟以前只從外面看過的建築，陪媽媽拍幾張照片，甚至只是坐下來喝一杯咖啡，都可能變成很值得記住的一個下午。

Sometimes, you don't have to travel far to discover something new. Lunch with friends, coffee with my mom, a short walk through Taipei, a beautiful historic building, sunshine, old trees, and lots of photos—that was enough to make this Saturday special.
